With mitigation measures in schools they might!
In July LCK Scotland wrote to all 32 Local Authorities in Scotland requesting information on ventilation improvements and utilisation of CO2 monitors.
Anyone following along will know that we had mixed results. Some Local Authorities had spent a chunk of budget on improvements and put some effort into making schools safer, others had done very little, a few had taken no action at all.
It has become very clear that responsibility for public health measures in Scotland’s schools falls squarely on the shoulders of each individual Local Authority, and with each Council interpreting the guidance differently, we have a postcode lottery situation.
On 8th August 2021 the First Minister pledged a further £10m to Local Authorities specifically for the procurement and distribution of CO2 monitors throughout the educational estate with the deadline of October break.
With October break approaching fast, LCK Scotland has sent a second FOI request to find out what has and has not been achieved over the past term.

Stay tuned to LCK Scotland on Twitter to see the responses as they come in.

If your child experiences any symptoms that indicate they are unwell, it COULD be COVID-19, and you should get them a test to help identify if it is a current Covid infection. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.
