Where To Start

Beginning the journey of supporting your child with Long Covid, or a related condition, can feel overwhelming and uncertain.

You may be searching for answers, reassurance, or simply a starting point.

 

You are not alone, many parents share the same worries and questions. To help ease that first step, we’ve gathered five trusted resources that offer clear information. These will give you a strong foundation of knowledge and help reduce the sense of overload as you begin to understand and support your child’s needs.

Your GP is the first point of contact in the UK. They can help rule out other conditions, discuss symptoms and treatment options, and signpost to specialist services if needed. See our Resource on record keeping to help you prepare for appointments.

5. Be Prepared to Advocate for your Child

healthcare professionals do not receive mandatory training on Long Covid, and it is often poorly recognised. You may need to explain symptoms, share evidence-based information, and gently persist to ensure your child’s needs are understood and supported at school, in healthcare, and beyond.

  • Long Covid Kids started  connecting families in 2020. Founding members recognised the recognising the unique situation and the need to share information, and learn together. Families often describe this support as a “lifeline.”

Preventing Infection and Reinfection

Let's reduce the long term risks of infection associated diseases.

The best way to reduce new cases of infection associated  illness, including Long Covid, is to prevent infections in the first place.

 

At LCK, we’ve been calling for stronger infection prevention measures since 2020, with a strong focus on clean air in schools, and other indoor spaces.

 

All children have a right to learn, play, and thrive in safer environments.
