Updated: Sep 21, 2021

Many schools have been struggling with staffing levels and some schools have been forced to close. Some schools have decided to take matters into their own hands and re-enforced isolation and testing policies, and Highland Council has issued a blanket reinforcement of public health measures.

Since the term started on the 16th of August

there have been 46,896 confirmed cases of COVID19

in ages 0-19.

1% will be hospitalised: 468 (CDC & UK data)

14% will develop Long Covid: 6565 (CLoCK Study)

0.01% - 0.03% may die: 4 – 14 (CDC & UK data)

Our 30th (out of 32) Freedom of Information (FOI) response came through from South Ayrshire Council. LCK SCOTLAND

It’s not good news.

Two Local Authorities are yet to respond; Stirling and Midlothian Councils.

We are well over the 20-day deadline for a response and both Councils has been issued with a request for a review into their failure of response as advised by the Scottish Information Commissioner.

On 3rd August 2021, Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, announced a further £10m investment for ventilation improvements in schools. These are to be completed by the October break.

In two weeks’ time, Helen will begin the FOI process all over again to ensure that Local Authorities have complied with the directive. Meanwhile, Scotland sits at the top of the World COVID-19 League table
