Ireland Update. School forced to reopen

Despite the government warning that the Covid case numbers 'remain very high', the plan remains to remove many restrictions as of Oct 31st, when amongst other changes, nightclubs will reopen and social distancing will be scrapped. On Sunday, the principal of Wexford CBS primary school took the decision alongside the Board of management to close their school due to an outbreak of at least 30 confirmed cases.
By Tuesday evening Principal Vicky Barron had received instruction from the Dept of Education that they must reopen on Wednesday morning. A large number of parents there chose not to send their children to school.

On Newstalk, a national radio station, Dr Ciara Kelly, one of the hosts, discussed the case and restated the false claim that children are very rarely impacted by Covid.
No mention was made of the risk to children from Long Covid.
The LCK organisation has pushed back on this misinformation via twitter and an LCK Ireland representative plans to contact Newstalk directly regarding our concerns.
