This year, our student-run Dance Society, part of the University of Birmingham’s MedSoc,
put on another unforgettable annual charity dance show—and this time, we took a trip
down memory lane with the theme ‘Rewind.’ Since all of our members are healthcare
students born in the 2000s, it felt only right to celebrate the era that shaped our childhoods!
From iconic pop hits to nostalgic throwbacks, the show was packed with high-energy
performances that brought the spirit of the 2000s to life. We showcased a variety of dance
styles, from hip-hop and contemporary to ballet and jazz, all choreographed and performed
by our incredibly talented members.
A Personal Touch
In the first half of the show, we shared a video from Long Covid Kids, highlighting the
important work they do. I also took a moment to give a heartfelt speech about my brother,
who has been battling the effects of Long Covid for the past two years. His journey has been
a powerful reminder of why we, as future healthcare professionals, are so passionate about
raising awareness and supporting causes that make a real difference.
Dancing for a Cause
Our annual show isn’t just about dancing—it’s about coming together to support a
meaningful cause. Thanks to the incredible support from our audience, friends, and family,
we were able to raise funds that will go toward helping all children and young people affected
by Long Covid.
