We are deeply disappointed in Robbie Williams' recent remarks regarding Long Covid, a condition that has had a profound impact on the lives of an estimated 65,000 children and young people in the UK alone. These young individuals are battling chronic illness with varying degrees of disability, leaving them unable to engage in normal childhood activities, access education, enjoy hobbies, or socialise like their peers. Long Covid has turned their worlds upside down, and they have been forced to watch life move on without them.
Joking about Long Covid is not only inappropriate, but it also trivialises the immense struggles these children face on a daily basis. We must remember that these young people deserve the same empathy and understanding as anyone living with a long-term condition. Making light of their challenges not only perpetuates misconceptions but also adds to the emotional burden they already carry.
We urge Mr. Williams and others in the public eye to show compassion and sensitivity when addressing Long Covid. Awareness and support are crucial in fostering an environment where these children and young people feel acknowledged and understood in their journey towards recovery. Let us unite in raising awareness and advocating for those affected by Long Covid, ensuring they receive the recognition and assistance they need and deserve. Together, we can create a more compassionate and inclusive world for all those facing long-term health challenges.

While children live with life-changing symptoms and families struggle to seek support, we must be here.
