Why Your Support Matters

Across the UK, thousands of children are still living with the long-term effects of COVID-19.

Too often, they remain unseen, unsupported, and unheard.

With over 11,000 families in our community, Long Covid Kids is the leading charity supporting children and young people living with Long Covid.

But demand is growing, infections continue and gaps in support are widening.

As a small, patient-led charity, every donation makes a meaningful difference.

111,816 children (aged 3–17)

in the UK have experienced Long Covid in England and Scotland alone. (ONS, April 2024).

10 to 20% of children

infected with COVID-19 may be affected. The risks of paediatric Long Covid double with a second infection.

Nearly 6 million children

are estimated by the US NIH RECOVER study to be affected by Paediatric Long Covid, putting it on track to become the number one childhood illness,  more than are diagnosed with paediatric asthma.

Despite this, children remain overlooked

across healthcare, education, research, and policy, leaving families without the care and support they need.

“Children with Long Covid have been sidelined for too long.”

“This year’s Covid Inquiry hearing for Module 8 highlighted powerful and often distressing testimony from families and experts, bringing national attention to the ongoing impact of Long Covid on children. We hope this growing recognition will translate into meaningful support, not just for the families already affected, but for those who may need help in the months or years ahead.

We are aiming to raise an ambitious £17,500 this year. To unlock the full match funding, we must raise £8,750 in online donations. We hope our community, and the wider public, will give generously to help us continue the work we believe in so passionately: ensuring every young person has the support they need, whether they are affected now, in the future, or should they develop Long Covid or any overlapping illness after a future an infection.”
