Kate Davies

Representative for Wales

Kate holds a dual role within Long Covid Kids as our Lead Representative for Wales and Support Services Moderator.

Her daughter, Bethan, was diagnosed with Long Covid at the age of 16. Driven by her family’s experience and a determination to create change for other children and young people, Kate began volunteering with Long Covid Kids in 2022.

Since then, she has worked alongside Long Covid and ME organisations across Wales to raise awareness and influence policy. Under her leadership, Long Covid Kids has contributed to debates within the Senedd, including the voices of children and young people with Long Covid being heard in the Chamber for the first time in 2024. She also led the charity’s participation in Y Farchnad (Marketplace) event at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.

Kate has engaged with educators across Wales to share Long Covid Kids resources and contributed to the work of Senedd education committees. She regularly shares her and Bethan’s story in the media and encourages other families to speak out, ensuring that the experiences of children and young people remain visible.

As Support Services Moderator, Kate draws on her lived experience and knowledge to signpost and support families nationally and internationally through our social media groups. Having seen first-hand the impact of Long Covid, she is committed to supporting others and advocating for improved recognition, care, and education access for children and young people.
