‘Suffering in silence’: Calls for Scottish Government to create long Covid clinics for kids
The eight-year-old Westhill youngster, who has missed most of the last year at Crombie School, suffers daily from a wide range of symptoms including fatigue, migraines and difficulties regulating her temperature.
Ms Goss, who is a trustee of the charity Long Covid Kids, urges the Scottish Government to follow NHS England in setting up specialist clinics for children and adults.

"Treating long Covid-19 in children will require a specific focus on that population’s symptom profile and underlying disease mechanisms, despite apparent similarities between paediatric and adult long-haulers, experts and advocacy group leaders said. In children, the lack of well-documented acute Covid-19 cases, the lagging awareness of long Covid-19’s prevalence, and the safety concerns associated with younger individuals present unique research barriers, they added."

ONS data suggests 7.4% of children aged two to 11 and 8.2% aged 12-16 report continued symptoms, and now the NHS is launching long covid services for children and young people through 15 paediatric hubs around the UK."

"A 10-year-old schoolboy has been left in a wheelchair after developing a mystery illness, thought to be Long Covid.
Jacob Parish, 10, from New Waltham, has not been at school since March as he awaits a formal diagnosis for the condition which has left him unable to walk.
Mum, Victoria Parish, believes he might have Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTs) trigged by Long Covid."
