New survey suggests reinfection worsens Long COVID

The UK charities Long COVID Kids and Long COVID Support conducted an internet survey to understand people’s experiences.
The findings indicate that, as most people get Long COVID after their first infection, avoiding infection especially in children is critical. The results also underline the importance of avoiding reinfection even if people are fully vaccinated and have recovered from Long COVID.

Living with long Covid

Anna was getting a sore tummy and headaches every day. The classroom noise was too much for her, the lights were too bright...
Dr Elisa Perego, a London-based health researcher focusing on long Covid, says: “Schools must allow flexible hours, personalised schedules, and homeschooling. Long Covid can present with a relapsing remitting pattern, with periods of worsening and others of improvement. It can also present as an invisible illness, and a child can be very ill without looking as such at first glance.”

Long Covid: 11-year-old on Leeds long Covid clinic help

"Life goes on for lots of people, but it has sort of stood still for us in some respects"
Freya was an active, sporty girl until she contracted Covid. "I get backache, headaches, rashes, sometimes I get tinnitus, tired all the time," she said.
Dr Avanish Tantry said at present the clinics were about helping families manage the symptoms.
"I feel like we've really got some positive help" Freya's Mum, Emma,said.

Long Covid girl, 10, completes NHS walking challenge unaided

A 10-year-old girl, who was left unable to walk unaided after testing positive for Covid, has completed laps of her garden without help.
Emily, from Yeovil in Somerset, needed a walking aid to complete laps of her garden for months after the virus left her in extreme pain.
