Jane is a human rights barrister with extensive experience in complex, high-profile investigations and inquiries. Her work has included cases on the unlawful use of handcuffs on pregnant women in labour, the death of a baby at HMP Styal, and the MSX investigation into systemic racism at HMP Bristol.
As part of her commitment to justice and accountability, Jane acts for the Long Covid Groups, including Long Covid Kids, in the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, ensuring the voices of affected families are represented. Her expertise spans discrimination, constitutional torts, health and social care, and human rights law.
Jane writes regularly for the Legal Action Group on prison law and has published on issues such as the treatment of pregnant women in detention and transgender rights in the criminal justice system. She also delivers training on individual rights to lawyers and NGOs, and serves as a board member of QUEERCIRCLE, an arts organisation supporting LGBTQ+ artists.
