Dr Danilo Buonsenso, MD, PhD, MSc

Dr Danilo Buonsenso is a Paediatric Infectious Disease Specialist at Gemelli University Hospital in Rome, Italy, and a leading global researcher on Long Covid in children.
He was among the first clinicians to identify and document persistent post-Covid symptoms in young people, helping to establish early evidence that Long Covid affects children as well as adults. His ongoing research explores the biological and clinical mechanisms of the condition, including cardiovascular and thromboinflammatory changes, and he continues to publish widely in international peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Buonsenso leads a multidisciplinary paediatric post-Covid clinic, providing care for children and adolescents with complex post-viral symptoms.
